Amprolium HCL + Ronidazole Tablets are an antiparasitic combination drug used to treat or prevent certain types of infections in birds like pigeons or chickens. It is indicated for the treatment of coccidiosis, trichomoniasis, and hexamitiasis. These infections are common during breeding seasons and may cause latent or subclinical infections in cage birds.

This combination tablet contains two active ingredients: Amprolium HCL and Ronidazole. This combination is effective against both coccidia and flagellates.

Ronidazole is classified as a nitroimidazole antibiotic and antiprotozoal agent. Ronidazole is similar to the antibiotic Metronidazole. Ronidazole works by damaging the DNA of susceptible microorganisms.

Amprolium is a commonly used anticoccidial agent that is considered one of the safest available on the market. It is an organic compound that is classified as a methylpyridine. Amprolium works as a thiamine uptake inhibitor. As thiamine is a food source for cocci, this helps starve the microorganisms. Amprolium shows activity against the first generation of trophozoites and schizonts, and has shown activity against E. tenella, E. necatrix and E. acervulina and also E. maxima.
